Nella Primavera

I love spring.
And ducklings in the duck pond.
And not taking classes.
And earning money.
And preparing for New York.
And playing my piano.
But, with all this new found free time, what am I to do? Seriously, I gotta make up a schedule or something or else I'll go crazy!

Rainy Day

Today was a rainy sort of day. Last day of classes, everything's done and finalized, well, excepting taking finals, but that won't be so bad. But, listening to music, and the rain, is just lovely. Like this website says, rain makes everything better. I think that's true. I feel clean, ready, for whatever comes next. Well, except for my walk home. i didn't bring an umbrella, or a jacket to campus with me today.

Something for you to try: listen to music, of any sort, with the rainy noise in the background. Pay attention to how it makes you feel. Isn't it great? Better yet, curl up with a blanket and a book and read while it rains. Best of all, grab a keyboard or a guitar, and play along with the rain. Or bring your guitar/other instrument over to my place, and we'll make a symphony out of raindrops.

"So...What Do You Look For?"

cue a bite of breadstick and deer-in-headlights blank stare.

Seriously??? "well....lots of things!" (bite of salad)

"oh..i guess that's kind of a loaded question."

ya think??? "um....i don't really know... what do you look for in a girl?" (go back to staring intently at salad)

"that she's Hot."

Really??? what the heck am i doing here?

"well, and that she's temple worthy, enjoys winter sports, doesn't have a ton of emotional baggage....." (I kinda stopped listening at this point. It was a really good salad!!)

As you can tell, I was very taken aback by this question, asked by my date over dinner. Fortunately, the entire night was not awkward. The Ballroom Dance Concert was amazing!! I loved it so much. There is so much talent at BYU, and the dedication those people put into their show was very evident. Again, it was amazing!

So, the activity was good. The food was good. The date was not. Here are some things that could have been improved:

1. Don't be so forward on a first date. I appreciate honesty in men, but please. There is a limit.

2. Don't be late. I like to enjoy my food at my pace, not be rushed through it so we can get to the show on time.

3. Don't keep talking about how you're so poor. You're making me feel guilty that you're spending this much money on me.

4. Don't mention your 40" LED TV. You're in college. You don't need (read: can't afford) a giant tv, especially if you're as poor as you keep mentioning.

5. Thank you for opening the car door for me. That was nice. But please don't be offended if I open it myself. I respect your chivalry, but it's simply a habit that's hard to break.

6. Don't make the date such a big deal. Dates should generally be inexpensive, especially first dates. You really didn't have to get the car washed just for me. It looked nice, sure, but I really don't know/care that much about cars.

7. Don't take off your bandage from donating plasma. It looks gross under there. Don't talk about how you got money from plasma in order to pay for the food.

8. Don't talk about how much you dislike your dance class. I'm in it too, and I love it! And we're about to watch the ballroom dance concert, for crying out loud!!

Some guys have a lot to learn. Gentlemen, take note! Strive to not end up like this guy - the subject of a blog post that does not show him in a very flattering light. Spending more money than you ought to will not put you in a favorable view, in my eyes, at least.

Date wisely, and you will end up in a very different sort of blog post, if you catch my drift. ;)
