This 4th of July marks the anniversary of my family's move to Utah five whole years ago. Wow. We were welcomed by 100 degree weather and fireworks. This year, we had 80 degrees and splendid fireworks.
I'd say the last five years changed me. Who can live without changing? I've become more independent, more sure of myself, more knowing of who I am. (I guess that's a fitting comment for independence day.) The fact is, I'm growing up. In another five years, I won't be the same person I am today. Living every single day along those five years will be an adventure! I'll try to make the most of those days and months and years. Wasting time is exactly that: a waste. With all that I've been given, I don't want to miss a moment of my life with my family, my friends, the earth, even the dear towns of Bountiful and Provo that will be mine to explore.
Today is a holiday to celebrate the founding of this country, the (sort of) start to a revolution that would change the world. What will my revolution be? How dramatically will my independence change my life? I suppose the only way to find out is to keep on living and discover the answers on the way, so, for now, that's the plan. Happy Independence Day!
